The last iOS update before iOS 16 will include Tap to Pay and ship with the green-colored iPhone 13 models. With iOS 15.4, people won't need an Apple Watch. In a previous update, Apple let people verify their identity to unlock the iPhone using an Apple Watch. Many Reddit and Twitter users complained that facial recognition failed to unlock their iPhone when they were wearing a mask. The updated Face ID comes after almost three years of a COVID-19 pandemic that forced people to wear masks. Apple promised the feature when it released iOS 15 last September. Starting with iOS 15.4, people will be able to use their iPhone for identification by storing their driver's license or state ID in Apple's Wallet app. Stripe, used by point-of-sale app maker Shopify, will be joined by other payment processors later in the year, according to Apple. Stripe will become the first payment app to support Tap to Pay. NFC uses magnetic field induction to communicate when devices touch or are a few centimeters away from each other.
